This year the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to three female activists from Yemen and Liberia. The joint appointment of the prize,  indicates that, obviously, all three are major changemakers in a region fraught with political upheaval. Before this triple takeover the last female Nobel Peace Prize recipient was Wangari Maathai of Kenya in 2004.

Surprise–contrary to popular media representations, there are women from African and Arab nations that are kind of holding things down and making history.
